Sir Francis Drake Visit

Class 1 were lucky enough to have a visit from local historical figure, Sir Francis Drake. Sir Francis had bought lots of different artefacts with him for us to look at and ask questions about. We learnt all about Drake and his circumnavigation of the globe; playing a board game where we raced against each other to complete the route that the Golden Hind took across the seas. We played Bingo, created our own treasure maps, made a treasure island, played a Pirate game where we had to survive quicksand and stormy waters and much more. Sir Francis then hid (delicious) treasure for us to find in the classroom. We had a brilliant day and learnt so much interesting information. We are now all experts on Sir Francis Drake and the Golden Hind! Thank you very much to FOLS who kindly funded this experience for us.
